The Response-Able ReEntry Institute believes that it is essential
-
For people to have skills that allow them to respond thoughtfully to life's daily challenges
rather than to react instinctively
-
To help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated fathers to become Response-Able men who use
skills to be healthy influences in their families' lives and in their communities
Within the Institute:
While in prison fathers learn to apply and master the use of
conflict management, interpersonal communication, critical thinking, decision-making and parenting skills. Inmate-Fathers
become active Parenting-Partners who are positive, healthy influences in their children's and family's
lives.
Within the Institute:
After prison fathers continue learning new skills and applying
new thinking patterns. They are supported to make good choices and to take control of their environment
in healthy ways. Formerly incarcerated men are given the opportunity to "give back" as they return into
the prison setting to assist in delivering the Institute's programming to other incarcerated fathers.
